Existential Concerns & Meaning Therapy in Denver

Explore questions of purpose, identity, freedom, uncertainty, and what it means to build a life that feels deeply your own.

There are moments in life when our usual answers no longer feel sufficient. You may find yourself questioning your purpose, wondering whether the life you've built still reflects who you are, feeling overwhelmed by uncertainty about the future, or wondering about the meaning of it all. These questions are part of being human. Therapy offers a place to slow down, explore these experiences with curiosity, and discover what it means to live a life that feels meaningful and true.

My office is conveniently located on the Westminster/Arvada border, making in-person therapy accessible for clients throughout the Denver metro area, including Westminster, Arvada, Broomfield, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, and Northwest Denver. I also offer secure online therapy for adults anywhere in Colorado.

You might be here because...

  • You've achieved many of the things you thought would make you happy, but something still feels missing.

  • You're asking deeper questions about purpose or the direction of your life.

  • You're struggling with uncertainty and wishing life felt more predictable.

  • Major life changes have left you wondering who you're becoming.

  • You're wrestling with questions about mortality, grief, or the passage of time.

  • You feel disconnected from yourself or the life you've been living.

  • You're trying to make choices that reflect your own values rather than other people's expectations.

  • You want more than symptom relief. You want to understand yourself and create a life that feels meaningful.

Understanding Your Experience

Being human means living with uncertainty. We don't get complete certainty about our relationships, our future, our purpose, or even ourselves. While this uncertainty can feel unsettling, it also creates the possibility for freedom that is genuinely our own.

Many people come to therapy believing they need to eliminate uncertainty before they can finally feel at peace. Others believe they need to discover the one "right answer" life can truly begin. Yet some of life's most meaningful experiences require us to move forward without guarantees.

Existential therapy is about creating space to explore questions honestly. Together, we'll examine the beliefs and experiences that have shaped your understanding of yourself while clarifying the values you want to guide your life moving forward.

Meaning isn't something we simply find waiting for us. It's something we actively create through the choices we make and the ways we choose to engage with the world around us.

How I Often Approach This Work

Existential questions rarely exist in isolation. They often emerge alongside anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship struggles, or moments when old ways of living no longer seem to fit. While existential therapy provides an important foundation for this work, I integrate several therapeutic approaches that help us understand your experiences and translate insight into meaningful change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is existential therapy?

Existential therapy focuses on the fundamental questions of being human: meaning, purpose, freedom, responsibility, relationships, mortality, and identity. Rather than offering simple answers, it helps you explore these questions in ways that lead to greater authenticity and fulfillment.

Do I need to be experiencing a crisis to benefit from existential therapy?

Not at all. While existential questions often arise during major life changes, many people seek this work simply because they want a deeper understanding of themselves and the life they're creating.

Will existential therapy help with anxiety or depression?

Yes. While existential therapy explores life's larger questions, it can also help people better understand anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship difficulties by placing them within the broader context of their lives and values.

Is existential therapy religious?

No. Existential therapy isn't based on any particular religious or spiritual belief system. Whether you're religious, spiritual, questioning, or secular, our work is centered on helping you discover what feels meaningful and authentic for you.

What kinds of questions might we explore together?

You might find yourself exploring questions like: Who am I becoming? What matters most to me? How do I want to spend my time? What kind of relationships do I want to build? How do I live well despite uncertainty? These aren't questions with one correct answer. They're questions that continue to evolve throughout our lives.

Can therapy really help with questions that don't have clear answers?

Yes. Therapy isn't about solving life's mysteries. In therapy, we hope to develop the capacity to live thoughtfully and courageously even when certainty isn't possible. Often, it's the process of exploring these questions, not "answers," that leads to meaningful growth.

Let’s Work Together

You don't have to have everything figured out before taking the next step. Sometimes the willingness to begin asking the question is where meaningful change starts.
